Glenn's Illusions

All of the standard illusions generate effects in the mind of the viewer. Those effects have the power that the viewer would expect them to have. An image of something particularly terrifying to the viewer will have an increased effect.

Thus an illusion of a giant is frightening to a low level character, and they will probably "die" when struck by it. On the other hand, a highly confident (or high level) character will treat the giant's blows as scratches.

Any "death" caused by illusions caused the victim to fall into a faint for 1d4 turns, and must make a system shock roll to survive.

Inconsistancies in the illusion, as described to the DM, are cause for the viewer(s) to make intelligence/reason checks. If they pass, they realise that something is wrong with the image presented.

Some viewers may be more familiar with the subject matter than the wielder of the illusion. If they have considerably more knowledge than the wielder, they receive automatic saving throws. In doubtful situations, a intelligence/reason check (with a bonus) may be made.

Any viwer may make an intelligence/reason check, even if the player is not suspicious themselves. If they pass, they may attempt to resist the illusion, as they notice some inconsistancy.

Resisting an illusion takes one phase. A successful saving throw versus spell, modified by wisdom, determines if they successfully resist. If they do resist, the veiwer will see the illusion as a ghostly, obviously false form or sound. It may still obscure vision to some degree.

If the saving throw fails, the viewer is unable to convince themselves of the false nature of the illusion, and is subject to it in full force. If the nature of the illusion changes substantually, a new saving throw may be called for later.

Another category of illusions may be developed, which produce holographic-like effects (including false sounds etc). Such may not hurt the viewer, except by convincing the viewer to perform actions they might not have otherwise intended.

These rules create several effects:
