Creating magic items
Rule clarifications
- Everyone who contributes to the creation of an item requires the appropriate item creation feat.
- Some items will require a degree of research. Items which are not unusual
(eg: a +5 broadsword is not unusual) are assumed as part of the feat. Some
items may even require components which must be adventured for, and cannot
be purchased. Unusual items are not necessarily powerful ones.
- Items which replicate feats or other abilities (eg: +1 axe of mighty
cleaving) require one of the creators to have the feat in question.
- Brew Potion appears not to allow spells of range personal (like shield).
Some are allowed (like alter self). This is (I think) what the rules are
trying to say, and there is good reason to have it this way (no potions of
shield for example). Specific examples may be allowed on a case by case basis.
