3.5 houserules
Houserules which go away in 3.5e
- Rangers are 3.5 standard
- Skill points change to realms standard (generally 6/level)
- Preparing spells from another spellbook no longer takes extra time.
- Creeping doom is 3.5 standard
- Continual light still exists, but some casters have continual flame
instead.
- Harm and heal will be 3.5 standard
- Vorpal will be 3.5 standard
- Battlemage is replaced by eldritch knight (from the 3.5e DMG PrC),
although many people will refer to EKs as battle mages
- The (unwritten) houserule that magic items based on spells of short
duration cost more will be replaced with the 3.5e standard rule
(which does the same thing).
- The (unwritten) house rule that magic items slots must be appropriate for
the power gained will be replaced with the 3.5e standard rule which does the
same thing (no more eyeglasses of giant strength).
Houserules which will stay
- Time to scribe spells will remain 1 hour per spell level.
- Magic item creation will still require everyone who contributes to have
the feat
- Research may still be required for unusual items (for flavour).
- Feat granting items still require the creator to have the feat.
- Potions are still restricted in what types can be made
- 5' steps
- Half-plate and scimitars
- Polymorph, shapechange
- templates and xp
- Undead gain +6 con not d12 hitdice.
New house rules
- Energy substitution is currently not allowed for sonic damage.
- Turning is based on CR, not HD.
- Disjunction is nerfed so it's no longer a party item killer.
House rules under consideration
- Allow stacking of extend spell feat
- Don't give +20 to hide for invisibility
