<Kasin>	a prestige class is like a normal class, but has strict requirements - including at least 5th level (sometimes more)
<Kasin>	example prestige classes from the DMG: assasin, loremaster, arcane archer, dwarven defender
<Kasin>	the paladin could also be a pretiage class rather than a normal class
<GM>	So you switch to it later? Including paladin?
<Kasin>	yep, although it's basically multiclassing, so you can (and often would) advance your normal class
<Kasin>	although the paladin class has the restriction (like the monk) that you may not raise your level in paladin if you raise your level in another class - ever

<Kasin>	156,000 altan silver - quite a bit of money
