Nytdain, Sviftmont (month 10) 12, 1031

We take a week off before returning to Violet.

Lani researches the anvil. Korthas is a minor deity of smithing. He fell in love with a mortal. She spurned him, so he killed her. He was making an anvil at the time, and it turned bad. It is now known as the Anvil of Hate. It makes people who fail to make a save hate and desire to kill the person who is closest to them. Some people aren't effected by this (it is unclear why - maybe just people who already hate lots). The anvil has powers, namely that items made with it are +1 better than they would normally be, free of charge. The second last owner was the half-devil Ethripan. The last owner was a Bariaur druid, Karbax. He took the anvil from the half devil, and tried to figure out how to cleanse the item. He stored it somewhere, apparently, whilst doing this research. A sending to this druid fails.

Leo does a commune:

Nytdain, Sviftmont (month 10) 19, 1031

We return to Violet.

Lunadain, Sviftmont (month 10) 22, 1031

We arrive around where the devils should be. Rih spots a violet, glossy, purple sphere. It appears to be made out of glass. There is weak transmutation magic on the sphere. We examine sphere.

We tap on the sphere. Something taps back.

Lani casts passwall on it. On the other side is a gigantic adamantine sphere, and three bone devils. Combat ensues.

We kill them with ease.

We investigate the adamantite sphere. There is a window in the sphere. On the other side is a chained up planetar.

Zim gauges a 1 inch deep hole in the window. Two inches remain.

Grey disintegrates a hole. On detecting magic, he looks magical - many divination magics.

We check him out to see if he is what he appears to be.

He is Iralophinine. He was imprisoned by Red Bile Spew, a hateful and disturbing name. Red is a pit fiend. We release him. He's been imprisoned for a long time.

He thinks he knows where to find the girdle Lani seeks. He believes it is mostly protected by the mind. He leads us there.

He tells us his tale.

He serves Razud. We chat a bit. Apparently he was once mortal, but was raised to be a celestial by Razud. As he does good, he can be promoted to a different type of celestial. He may eventually become immortal.

Gromdain, Sviftmont (month 10) 23, 1031

We arrive at a plain stone temple-like building. It has brass sheathed front doors, and no other entrance.

We are presented with a puzzle at the front door. Thora solves it. The doors swing open.

Inside there is much brass. Everything is brass, and the air smells sweet. At the end of the corridor there is a tight brass staircase going up. Alcoves in the stairs hold flowers. They appear freshly picked.

Above is an empty room, but for a book, and an overwhelmingly magical book in a belt stand.

The book contains a lengthy poem. About the girdle. Lani takes the girdle.

Idraode, a minor immortal ally of Razud, created the girdle for his niece to aid her in her quest for immortality. But she abused it, and did things like seduce paladins (it's a charisma item).

We spend a bit more time here.

We find the Couatl, and give him an update.

We leave.

Loshdain, Eirmont (month 11) 20, 1031

We attend Roland and Safranna's ball. We chat to people there.

Loshdain, Eirmont (month 11) 27, 1031

We assemble to go fight the dead Carnifex person that Thora found a while back. We teleport to Davania to the site. It is a broad clearing. Lani casts Legend Lore: Lhomarr's bane, troglodytes rise, Dhalgesh-k'ha's fall, god's curse.

The region from which Jussinea comes from was called Lhomarr.

We use a spell to unearth an entrance to the tomb. We cast buff spells. We open it up, and go in. We descend.

There are murals on the walls, untouched by time. Scenes of Carnifex doing nasty stuff. We get to the first chamber. Zim detects undead. There are thirty alcoves. Zim detects 30 undead. 30 overwhelming auras.

We move forward somewhat to the next room. There are chests murals, etc, and a dessicated figure on a throne. Zim detects undead.

We prepare, and attack. They don't seem surprised, funnily enough. On us attacking them, the crowned one stands up. He says: "You again have disturbed my rest. This time, you will pay." He casts meteor swarm. Good thing we're buffed with Protection from Fire. The meteor swarm kills some of our summoned creatures.

Furir Elin shoots the Carnifex, but it has very tough natural armour. The 30 Carnifex guards then attack, killing more of our summoned creatures. With our rear-guard summoned creatures dead, the Carnifex guards attack the party from behind. We attack back, doing a little damage. Unfortunately, the Carnifex king is extremely difficult to hit (AC 50, with high DR).

We seem to be in a bit of a bind.

The clerics cast turn undead, and do much pain to the Carnifex.

The king casts Fire Storm at us. Most of our Protection from Fire is eroded away.

Combat continues. The Carnifex guards start moving in amongst our number more. Then large numbers of them dimension door amongst us. The melee becomes a real mess.

After a few rounds of pain and many turn undeads, the minor Carnifex are all destroyed, leaving only the king.

Furir Elin destroys the amulet worn by the Carnifex King, and he becomes a lot weaker. Safranna destroys him with her nasty sword with a lucky blow.

Yay. We loot.
