Lunadain, Eirmont (month 11) 8, 1027

We divvy treasure. We kick back for a while.

Tserdain, Eirmont (month 11) 10, 1027

We discuss what to do with respect to the ship, such as whether it's salvagable. The captain wants us to stealthily investigate the ship to determine if there's much of worth there.

Zim unfortunately caught Filth Fever from the Ooze. The ships healer, Jeevan Rana, heals Zim, and checks over the whole crew. Jeevan wants to have people screened before coming on board in future. Jana, the Sindhi marine, also came down with Filfth Fever.

The body of Fritz is being preserved in the hold.

The doctor, who checks the whole crew, naturally finds out that Lani is a lich.

We also arrange for the sword to be sold.

We cast spells to read some of the documents we retrieved, which are manifests. They have four tons of iron, 500 lbs of platinum, and many different kinds of plants. There is also a passenger manifest of 75 names, each kind of elf-like.

Nytdain, Eirmont (month 11) 12, 1027

We organise an away team to go down (Zim, Grey, Lani, and two Sindhi marines, Madan and Kavi).

On arriving at the derelict, Zim casts Prying Eye, commanding them to explore the ship. On return, the eyes report that there are three of the filth oozes on the ground floor. One compartment has steel ingots, and some others seem to be dorms.

One eye, exploring the outside of the ship, finds six designed holes heading into the ship at fixed angles - the pipes seem to lead to devices on the second deck that have stone balls near them (cannon perhaps). There's also a hatch, man sized.

Some of the eyes are unable to explore their designated areas.

There is a sealed iron door on the second level of the ship at the stern, near the possible cannon. There are also more bedding areas on the middle section near the stern.

No eyes can get to the top section, so we have no responses from them as yet.

At the front of the ground level are some more fibrous material, and (now dead) plants. The third filth ooze is up the front of the ground level.

We start exploring ourselves. The pipe-based machines do seem to be cannon.

We open the iron door, and an eye goes in exploring. It returns - we've found the engine room. Within the room is a glowing crystal, floating there. We can sttill feel power exuding from it. It extends across the top and middle level of the ship. There are no oozes, but there is a body in the corner, on the top level. They are dessicated, and a bit decayed. They might be an elf. They're clad in the remnants of some kind of cloth, and they hold a golden staff. Lani believes it to be a staff of illumination (she even gets the command word, just by looking at it).

The "engine" is a pure magic device.

We find another ooze on the middle level, and some more cannon, toward the middle of the ship.

Zim sneaks into the kitchen, and finds the external hatch. He also finds a small magical wooden plugged potion - a potion of resist energy, cold.

We go to explore the upper level, via the engine room. On opening the door, Zim's eye flies in, and is destroyed. Zim peaks inside, and finds the mother ooze. It has various bones in various stages of digestion within its translucent body. It's an ugly mother.

We cannot explore any further.

We head down to the ground level, and draw out one of the oozes to attack. Lani summons an earth elemental to do the drawing out, and Grey casts slow on it to stop it moving fast. It makes for a really easy, dumb target. Zim also dumps it in an acid fog, to slow it down and hurt it. It's tough, but doesn't pose a problem. It dies easily.

We repeat the same trick on two more oozes, clearing the ground level. We do not find any valuables on this level.

With a bit more effort, we kill the two oozes on the middle deck. We explore, and find the platinum.

We move up to the top level, and explore. We find another cannon room. There's also two areas where it's clear that groups of armed people barricaded themselves in There's armour and weapons, but no bodies.

We head back to the ship to drop off the 250000 gp worth of platinum ingots. We're rich!

We also look at some of the documents acquired. They are fairly brief. It seems they only had a marine contingent of about 10 individuals. The documents are translated as being, by the Thyatian calendar, BC 400.

Loshdain, Eirmont (month 11) 13, 1027

We go back once again, this time with a different pair of marines, a pegataur mercenary and a pegataur shaman, Raerlas and Maelian.

We disintegate a hole in the side of the ship, and lure the big ooze outside. Unfortunately, it has damage reduction, and our arrows are ineffectual. We start using spells against it.

Lani summons a massive earth elemental, but it gets killed by the ooze quickly. The elemental manages to hurt the ooze, even past its damage reduction.

Lani summons more elementals, which manage to kill it.

The place where the creature was seems to have been the chief engineers room (magic based). The place has been trashed, but we do find a magical greatsword, and a scroll case.

We move on to dealing with the two oozes on the command deck. We lure them out, and kill them.

We get Lani to cast Past Life on the body in the engine room (the only remaining body in the entire vessel - the other body we found seems to have been absorbed). The died from suffocation.

Lani identifies the greatsword, a symbol of justice. A +2 lawful greatsword. Once (ever) it can bring its wielder back to life as if by a true resurrection. It has to be in hand for this to work.

Lani also casts analyse dweomer on the "engine". It is a levitation and flying device, controlled from elsewhere. Two ways are required to control it - can modify magical fields around it (using controls from elsewhere), and secondly, for grosser controls, need someone nearby to manipulate it, probably by concentration of some sort. It doesn't work anymore, as it was only designed to last for a limited period of time. Lani believes that this object is more natural than artifical - ie, it was found, and then enhanced/tuned.

We arrange a speak with dead on the remaining body. [for next session]
