Zim installs the teleporting device over the next while. Grey has a chat with his Rajahdirajah, who’s a little unhappy he wasn’t told earlier.

Session Start: Sun Nov 10 15:06:41 2002

[15:09] <Grey> *** 23/1/1027
[15:06] <norse_dm> The party is meeting the Heldannic crew [15:06] <norse_dm> Luftkapitan Rolf
[15:06] <norse_dm> Sir Felix Meer (2IC) [15:07] <norse_dm> Dame Katharina Klein (3IC) [15:07] <norse_dm> Sir Sebastian Schmid (Navigator) [15:07] <norse_dm> 16 more knights
[15:07] <norse_dm> Brother chaplain Melman [15:07] <norse_dm> 6 brother chaplains of the hammer ( = knight) [15:07] <norse_dm> 2 priors of the heart (= chaplain) [15:07] <norse_dm> 24 squires
[15:07] <norse_dm> Sir Neufurt
[15:07] <norse_dm> Prior Sandler
[15:07] <norse_dm> 3 knights
[15:07] <norse_dm> 1 chaplain
[15:07] <norse_dm> 10 squires
[15:07] <Grey> We catch up with the Heldan's again. We meet some of the crew of the Heldan's, including some of the officers. There's Luftcapitan Rolf himself, Sir Felix Meer (2IC), Dame Katharina Kline (3IC), Sir Sebastian Schmidt (Navigator), and a bunch of other knights. There are also seven brother chaplains (order of the hammer members), two priors (unusual, in that these are members of the heart of Vanya order - these are more philosophers, researches, and the like), and 24 squires (knights in training). [15:07] <norse_dm> that is the total complement of their crew [15:07] <Grey> There will be a second ship at a later date, commanded by Sir Neufurt. Probably a stealth based ship, in all likelihood. [15:07] <Grey> Brother Chaplain Melman is the leader of the chaplains. [15:07] <Thora> Stealth-based?
[15:08] <Thora> Chaplain? How does he get along with the party priests? [15:08] <Grey> Probably cloakable is our guess, but their being quiet at the moment. [15:08] <Grey> Well, the party priests... which he's met none of except Safranna. [15:09] <Grey> Things seem very convivial. [15:09] <norse_dm> Luftkapitan Rolf shows the party his ship [15:10] <Grey> We get a look at the weapons on the ship. [15:10] <norse_dm> The ship looks like a giant eagle (complete with wings and head) [15:11] * Thora likes the ship already. [15:11] <Grey> There are 3 ballistae pointing forward, a big giant magical disintegrating-looking cannon pointing forward, three smaller looking disintegrator-like cannons. [15:12] <Thora> What is the ship made of? Wood? [15:12] <Grey> It looks like there may also have been three catapults. [15:12] <Grey> Yes, wood.
[15:12] * Thora is thinking about strengthening it... [15:14] <Thora> She'll ask about magic spells/effects strengthening the wood. [15:14] <norse_dm> Her Rolf: Unfortunately this class of vessel doesn't have any magical protections. Just weapons. [15:15] <Thora> Th: I see. I have a spell that would strengthen the wood, which might prove useful. [15:15] <norse_dm> If you were able to cast this before a battle, this would be appreciated. [15:15] <Thora> Th: The spell is a little slow to cast, but its effect are permanent. It would be best to cast it sooner, rather than later. [15:16] <norse_dm> If you could do that, we would appreciate it. [15:16] <norse_dm> (BTW, the party is trying to decide you should be the liason on the HK vessel(s). [15:16] <Thora> Th: I probably won't have time to cover the whole ship, but I should be able to strengthen key areas of the outside. [15:17] <norse_dm> (the party discusses the problem of the HK liasion working out the party is mostly dead) [15:18] <Thora> (Thora will be happy to be the liason. It would also give her time to enspell more of this ship.) [15:20] <norse_dm> (the party discusses the problem of the HK finding out about the gate) [15:23] <Grey> The Hammer of Vanya: One the three main orders of Vanya. The heart of Vanya determines the wishes of Vanya, and the Hammar of Vanya makes those orders happen. [15:23] <Grey> Does thora know much of Vanya? [15:24] <norse_dm> (almost all of the priests onboard are members of the hammer order. 2 are members of the heart order, given this voyage may take some time) [15:25] * Thora knows some things about Vanya? What do you want to know? [15:25] <Grey> How does Vanya view undead? [15:28] <Thora> Th: As far as I know Vanya doesn't have any particular teachings for or against Undead. [15:32] <Thora> Th: On the whole, the teachings of Vanya make these people trustworthy allies. [15:32] <Grey> We decide to tell them of the undead status of some of the party members. [15:51] <Grey> Grey tells Luftkapitan Rolf about the party status. He's somewhat displeased by the idea, but doesn't react too negatively. [15:51] <Grey> He wants to tell his officers, and come back with a decision later. [16:04] <Grey> Rolf agrees to the mission. He still wishes us to have a liason officer on the falcon. The party feels that one of the Priors is probably most suitable. [16:14] <Grey> We interview Phillip.
[16:14] <Thora> How was he?
[16:15] <Grey> (still chatting... seems a bit distant/reserved) [16:35] <Grey> We move on, and chat to Karla Krieg. [16:38] <Grey> Phillip was probably in his 50's. Karla seems to be approximately 20. [16:45] <Grey> We choose to rotate the two on a weekly basis. [16:45] <Thora> Glad I figured out how to do that. It wasn't directly stated anywhere. [16:46] <Grey> Karla will join us first. [16:46] <norse_dm> (they flipped a coin) [16:46] * Thora chuckles.
[16:47] * Thora thinks "I'm sure the very ordely Vanyans will be impressed by that." [16:47] <Grey> in six days we can be flying away from the moon.

[16:48] <Grey> *** 1/2/1027
[17:03] <Grey> Herr Rolf helps Zim balance the Falcon's gravity plain. The falcon can now be flown properly. [17:03] <Grey> We have Karla shuttled over, and we sail into the void. [17:04] <norse_dm> Minora will need to cast find the path to allow the Falcon to slip into the higher speed flight path into the void

[17:04] <Grey> *** 7/2/1027
[17:06] <Grey> We discover personality about Karla. She's not very athletic, and she's a little clumsy. She has a keen intellect, and a piercing curiosity. [17:07] <Grey> She has the attitude of: if you don't know what it does, try it. [17:11] <Grey> She's extremely inquisitive. [17:16] <Grey> Over the communicator, we hear about a possible hostile. [17:16] <Grey> A creature is rapidly approaching. It looks like a multicoloured large bird-like creature. [17:17] <Grey> It comes in, flying toward the warbird. [17:18] <Grey> A ray strikes toward the bird, rotting away some of its flesh. [17:18] <Grey> The weapon used against it was a blight belcher. [17:22] <Grey> It swoops past, snatching at two crew members. It misses one, but grabs another crew member. It also takes a swipe at the ship, causing a big gauge in the hull, which it then spits out. [17:23] <Grey> The bird is of size colossal. It is twice the length of the falcon. [17:26] <norse_dm> Grey opens a porthole and prepares to fire something at it. Turia mans the turret, ZIm takes over from Gwen as pilot. [17:27] <norse_dm> The crew on the warbird are going to action stations, and the chaplains are manning the blight belchers [17:28] <Grey> It is strongly strongly resistant to magic. [17:29] <Grey> Zim observes a second one of the birds. [17:31] <Grey> It needs more than +2 weapons to hit. The fire does a little bit of damage. [17:33] <Grey> The second creature arrives. [17:33] <Grey> It also goes for the warbird. [17:36] <Grey> The second one gets attacked, gets hurt by one of the blight belches, but brushes off the disintegration cannon. [17:39] <norse_dm> Minora cries out something in her native tongue. It sounds nasty, and vengeful. [17:39] <Grey> She drops a firestorm on bird 2. [17:41] <Grey> As bird 2 flies past the warbird, it casts prismatic spray from its eyes. [17:42] <Grey> many of the crew members are blinded. [17:43] <norse_dm> the ship is unharmed. [17:43] <norse_dm> many crew members are killed. [17:43] <Thora> OK, is that crew member still alive? [17:44] <norse_dm> yes
[17:44] <Thora> OK, try to miracle them back to safety. [17:45] <norse_dm> Bird #1 screws it's rage as it's meal is removed from it's grasp, and reappears on the deck of the ship. [17:51] <Grey> Minora greater magic weapons Turia's ammo. [17:52] <Grey> Lani summons an elder arrowhawk [17:54] <Grey> The arrrowhawk zaps the bird for a small amount of damage. [17:56] <Grey> Bird 2 comes back toward the falcon. Grey attempts to counterspell it, successfully (just). [17:56] <Grey> Counterspell the prismatic spray from its eyes, that is. [17:57] <Grey> Bird 1 come back again.
[17:58] <Tessarael> (any of your spells affected them? Otherwise, I guess summoning makes most sense in combat situation where you're in Falcon, along with firing Falcon non-magical weapons) [17:59] <Grey> Bird 1 attacks the falcon. [18:01] <Grey> It causes massive structural damage to the falcon [18:01] <Thora> Thora will begin summoning. [18:05] <norse_dm> The creatire inflicts massive damage on the falcon [18:05] <norse_dm> tearing out huge chunks. It gos through the ironwood like butter [18:09] <Grey> Bird 2 goes for the falcon. Grey tries to counterspell its prismatci spray, but fails. [18:11] <Grey> Grey gets hit by a yellow beam of electrivity. Grey takes massive amounts of damage. [18:11] <Grey> Lani gets hit by acid, and loses her spell. Safranna takes a bit of fire damage. [18:12] <Grey> They are faster than the falcon. [18:12] <Grey> Finn uses a CP to avoid dying. [18:15] <Grey> Combat continues in its haywire way. [18:17] <Grey> Zim then notices an invisible ballista bolt fly out of the void, striking bird 2. This must be the clloaked vessel, presumably flying along with us. [18:17] <Tessarael> (much damage from the ballista bolt to the bird?) [18:18] <Grey> (a bit)
[18:18] <Grey> Bird 1 attacks the warbird again. [18:19] <Grey> A chunk of the warbirds wing is ripped off. [18:20] <Grey> Thora summons a huge air elemental. [18:22] <Grey> The air elemental ineffectually attacks it. [18:23] <Grey> Grey ineffectually casts a spell at bird 2 [18:24] <Grey> Turia hits bird 2 again, causing some more damage. [18:25] <Grey> Bird 2 decides to fly away. [18:26] <Grey> Bird 1 also decides to fly away, after Turia hits it with another spike gun hit. [18:28] <Grey> Captain Rolf communicates that they almost had four people killed, but Thora "healed" them. Another crew member is turned to stone, and another was cured of insanity. [18:30] <Grey> We start repairs.
[18:31] <Tessarael> how viable is repairing the ironwood? not easy to do carpentry on that, but with magic ... [18:31] <Grey> we can manage
[18:33] <norse_dm> they were CR 22 btw
