The doors leading to the King have opened. We head down the corridor.

Unfortunately, shortly in, a block falls from the ceiling, locking us in, and wounding Lani. Unfortunately, Minora and the prince are trapped on the wrong side. I teleport over and get her on our side.

Unfortunately, the walls then start moving to crush us. Unfortunately, the door through which we need to pass is locked. Lani attempts to knock it, but fails. Luckily, I manage to shatter the door just in time using magic.

Okay, maybe we'll actually start checking for traps.

Not long after we come to a watered area. The water is a few feet deep. It appears as though it may be natural flooding. Zim casts Arcane Eye, but sees little other than submerged sarcophagi inside a large room not too far ahead.

We travel forth. Zim casts detect undead, and finds undead ahead of him. Upon entering the large area, the front ranks are ambushed by at least 15 very powerful wraith-like undead.

Alas, the front ranks, namely Roland, Grey, Turia, and Zim, are initially the only ones able to attack, and in particular, get attacked.

Unfortunately, the element of surprise, combined with the overwhelming numbers of the powerful undead, create a bad situation.

Te area is smothered by a silence spell, thus rendering spellcasting and item activation pointless. Grey, Turia, and Roland are frozen in the water by an Otiluke's Freezing Sphere. They are unable to move to allow other party members access.

Zim plays dead after taking much damage. Turia goes down from damage, but Grey applies a Potion of Cure Serious, after which she is merely playing dead.

Grey dies, due to negative levels.

The wraith-like creatures are now also attacking the rear ranks. In the silence, Minora fairs poorly.

A confusion cast by the wraith-like-mage confuses the Prince.

Grey's spirit gets back up again. He attacks the party. With all of his previous abilities.

Minora goes down. Shortly, she gets back up again, and attacks to the full of her abilities.

Of the people fighting the undead, only Lani and Safrana are really achieving anything, as well as Lani's elementals.

Grey casts a maximised dispel magic, removing the elementals, and some other spells.

Turia uses her amulet of the planes to escape, after having the silence in her area dispelled as a side effect by Grey.

Roland gets back up as an undead.

Zim surrenders, and is told that he will be their slave.

Safranna gets magically held.

Lani moves to Safranna, polymorphs her, and gets ready to teleport away.

Grey Cone of Acids the remaining party members. Lani goes down, and only Safranna is still up, even after Grey then blasts her with Sonic damage. Safranna is, however, held.

Zim is killed by them, and indeed will be their slave, forever.

Everyone becomes powered-up wraiths. The only one to survive is Turia.

In the aftermath, the prince is not commanded to do as we do. We are commanded to guard the outer chambers. We feel compelled to do so. The prince is led away.

We see a familiar-looking priest (Vander's priest), and another priest who accompanies him. We feel no inclination to harm them. They go aside for a while, and then return, with the prince. We are then transported to Nyx's domain. After jumping the queue of undead who've been waiting to see her, we meet Nyx herself.

She offers us a deal. We become free-willed (non-evil) undead for a year, to see the other side. She is our patron deity during this time. We are also to avoid attacking her "children". After the one year, we can choose to remain undead or not, as we please. We can go our own way. No strings attached.

Should we decide not to accept our agreement, she has suggested that things won't be so good for us.

She has also suggested that part of the reason she is willing to do this is that we will be able to continue our fight against the vampires.

I see no choice but to comply. Most others are in agreement, Zim is holding out.

Perhaps the only real choice is to be a Nosferatu, or else a Lich, although Talib (not here) may not be too happy with the latter.
